Private Fees in Hamilton
Our private fees for dental examinations, hygiene, everyday treatment, cosmetic work and implants, how they compare locally, and when a dental plan makes sense.
How Much Does a Private Dentist Cost in Hamilton?
At our Hamilton practice, a private new patient examination with X-rays is £70 and a 30-minute hygiene visit is £70, or £100 with Airflow. Across Hamilton and Lanarkshire, practices that publish prices charge roughly £40 to £75 for a new patient exam and £45 to £79 for a hygiene visit. If you'd rather pay monthly, our dental plans cover dental examinations, X-rays and hygiene from £24.10 a month, and every treatment fee is fixed in writing before we start.
Dental Examinations and Hygiene
| Appointment | Our fee | On a plan |
|---|---|---|
| First visit: full examination and the X-rays you need | £70 | Included |
| Dental examination after that | £70 | Included |
| Dental examination for a child seen privately | £38 | Included |
| Single small X-ray | £10 | Included |
| Half-hour clean with the hygienist | £70; £100 with Airflow | Included, with Airflow |
| Hour-long deep clean | £130 | £117 |
| Emergency appointment | £70 | Free |
Your first visit is the new patient examination. One of our dentists checks your teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissues of your mouth, takes the X-rays you need, and gives you your options in writing, each with its fee. 1 Hygiene visits are with Simra Ashraf, our hygienist. Airflow is a jet of warm water, air and fine powder that clears plaque and staining more gently than a polishing paste.
How Our Fees Compare Locally
Plenty of practices in Hamilton and the surrounding Lanarkshire towns don't publish private prices at all. Among those that do, as of autumn 2026:
| Item | Typical local range | Ours |
|---|---|---|
| New patient examination | About £40 to £75 | £70, X-rays included |
| Hygiene visit | About £45 to £79 | £70, or £100 with Airflow |
| Dental plan, a month | About £16 to £28 | £24.10 or £40.16 |
Our examination and hygiene fees are towards the top of the local range, and we'd rather say so. The comparison isn't always like for like: some lower exam prices leave out X-rays, some hygiene prices are for shorter appointments, and plans vary a lot in what they cover. Ours includes Airflow at every plan hygiene visit. When you compare, ask what's included.

Fillings, Crowns and Root Canals
| Treatment | Front teeth | Back teeth |
|---|---|---|
| Tooth-coloured filling, smallest size | £105 | £118 |
| Ceramic crown, from | £750 | £675 |
| Root canal treatment | £450 | £525 (premolar), £595 (molar) |
| Ceramic onlay (a partial crown) | £750 | |
| Taking a tooth out | £125 routine; £450 surgical or wisdom tooth | |
Filling fees go up with the number of tooth surfaces involved, so a small filling costs less than a large one; every size is on our fees page. A molar root canal costs more than a front tooth because there are more canals to find and clean. A root-filled back tooth turns brittle, so we normally protect it with an onlay or crown afterwards, at its own fee. Crowns and onlays are made from an iTero Lumina scan rather than putty impressions. Plan members pay 10% less on all of these.
Cosmetic Dentistry and Invisalign
| Treatment | Our fee |
|---|---|
| Invisalign, from the shortest course (Express) | £2,500 |
| Invisalign for full correction (Comprehensive) | £4,500 |
| Bonding on one tooth | £395 |
| Bonding package, 4 or 10 teeth, whitening included | £1,550 or £3,950 |
| Porcelain veneers, each, from | £695 |
| Boutique home whitening with custom trays | £350 |
Dr Nikhil Sharma plans and carries out bonding, veneers and Invisalign. Invisalign fees include refinements, Vivera retainers and whitening, and bonding packages of four teeth or more include whitening, so the package price is what you pay. There's no charge for a bonding, veneer, Invisalign or smile makeover consultation. We take a £40 deposit to hold the slot and pay it back within 7 days of your visit. The plan discount doesn't apply to implants, Invisalign, bonding or veneers, but whitening on its own is reduced to £315 for members.
Implants
| What you need | Our fee |
|---|---|
| One missing tooth: implant with its crown | From £2,605 |
| A whole jaw of fixed teeth on implants | From £12,500 per jaw |
| A denture that clips onto implants | From £8,500 per jaw |
| 3D CT scan for planning | £160 |
| Bone grafting, where the bone is thin | £535 to £998 |
| Sedation through a vein, per appointment | £500 |
Dr Sharma plans every implant case on a CT scan taken on our own scanner, then places MegaGen AnyRidge implants through a 3D-printed guide using MegaGen R2 guided surgery. The single implant fee covers the implant, the connecting abutment, the crown and your review visits, and comes with a 5-year guarantee for non-smokers who attend hygiene visits every 3 months. Grafting, extractions and sedation are only added if you need them. Our implant cost guide goes into the detail.
Why Fees Differ
- Chair time. A 60-minute deep clean costs more than a 30-minute visit; a molar root canal takes longer than one on a front tooth.
- Laboratory work. Crowns, onlays and veneers are made by a dental technician from a digital scan, which adds a lab bill a filling doesn't have.
- Scale. Fillings are priced per surface, bonding per tooth, full-arch implants per jaw.
- Equipment. On-site CT, guided implant surgery and digital scanning all carry a cost, and so does the training to use them.
Every fee here is a guide price from our current list. 1 Your own fee depends on what we find, so it's set out in a written plan before anything is done and doesn't change once you've agreed it. If something unexpected comes up during treatment, we stop and talk it through with you first.
Pay as You Go, or a Plan?
If you come twice a year, a plan usually works out cheaper. With Plan A at £24.10 a month, your year's dental examinations, small X-rays and a pair of Airflow cleans are paid for, worth £360 a year at our standard fees, a saving of £70.80. Plan B (£40.16 a month) doubles the hygiene visits to four, worth £560 and saving £78.08, and suits gum problems and implants.
Both add free emergency appointments, priority booking, worldwide dental emergency cover and 10% off most private treatment (not implants, orthodontics or extensive cosmetic work). Someone who visits once a year will usually spend less without a plan; our membership guide works through both cases.
The NHS Alternative
Private care isn't the only route. Children are registered and treated on the NHS straight away, and we are registering new NHS adults now. NHS examinations are free for everyone in Scotland, under-26s pay nothing for treatment, and other adults pay 80% of the NHS fee up to £384 a course. Whitening, bonding, veneers, Invisalign and implants are private at every practice, and many people combine NHS dental examinations with private treatment for one thing. Our NHS or private guide explains how.
Questions
This guide is general information, not a diagnosis. A dentist needs to examine you to say what is right for your teeth.
