Composite Bonding in Hamilton
Bonding That Looks Natural
At Hamilton Smile Studios, composite bonding is £395 a tooth, or £1,550 for four teeth with home whitening included. We add tooth-coloured composite to chipped, gappy or worn front teeth, and most of the time your enamel is left as it is.
Bonding Prices and Packages
Choose how many teeth. Every package starts with home whitening, and each tooth is shaped beside its neighbours so the set reads as one smile. 1

Why Our Bonding Costs More
Bonding is advertised around Lanarkshire from roughly £100 to £200 a tooth. Ours is £395, so it's fair to ask what the difference pays for.
A lower fee can mean a single shade of composite, placed in one sitting, with no whitening beforehand and no check afterwards. For one small chip that can be perfectly sensible. Across a row of front teeth, a single shade can look flat, and without a review a high spot on the bite can go unnoticed.
Comparing quotes? Ask each practice how many shades they layer, whether whitening is included, whether you'll see the new shape first and whether a review is booked. Here is what you get with us.

Why Layering Matters
A natural front tooth isn't one colour. It's warmer near the gum, more see-through at the biting edge, and its surface has fine ridges that scatter the light. A single lump of composite can't copy that.
So each tooth is built from several thin layers: a warmer dentine shade underneath, a body shade over it, then a translucent enamel shade on top. Edges, corners and surface texture are sculpted last, to suit your face rather than a template.
Usually your own enamel isn't touched at all. Occasionally a light polish of the surface helps the composite blend in and grip better. If your teeth need that, we'll explain why before doing it.

Colour Comes First
Composite keeps the shade it was made in. Whitening gel lightens enamel but does nothing to bonding, so if you whiten afterwards, the bonded teeth get left behind.
That's why each package opens with two to three weeks of home whitening in trays made for your mouth. Once your new colour has settled, we match the composite to it.
The chart runs from the bleaching shades on the left to a natural A3 on the right. Some people want bright; others want a shade that suits their age. We'll show you both against your own teeth.
From First Visit to Finish
Allow about a month from consultation to final polish, most of it spent whitening at home.
That suits patients travelling from East Kilbride, Motherwell or Wishaw. The whitening is done at home, so the whole course needs only a few trips to Hamilton.
Consultation
Photos, a check of your gums and bite, and a straight answer on whether bonding will give you what you're hoping for. Free, with a £40 deposit returned within 7 days of attending.
Whitening at Home
You wear trays cut to fit your teeth for two to three weeks. Already happy with your shade? Then we match the composite to your teeth as they are.
Bonding Appointment
Edge bonding is normally done in one sitting. Composite veneers across several teeth can need two. Each tooth is layered, sculpted and then polished.
Review
We check how your teeth meet, smooth anything that catches and give the surface its final shine.
Two Ways to Bond a Tooth
Edge Bonding
Composite added to part of a tooth: a corner, an edge or the side beside a gap.
- Good for
- Chipped corners, short or uneven edges, small spaces
- Visits
- Normally one
- Fee
- £395 a tooth
Composite Veneers
A complete layer over the visible front of each tooth.
- Good for
- Changing colour and shape across several teeth at once
- Visits
- One, sometimes two*
- Fee
- £395 a tooth, or a package from £1,550
*Bigger cases may begin with a digital smile design, so you can agree the shape before any composite goes on.

Your Choices: Bonding or Porcelain
Bonding is quicker, cheaper and kinder to enamel. Porcelain lasts longer and shrugs off stain. Here is the trade-off, side by side.
| Feature | Composite bonding | Porcelain veneers |
|---|---|---|
| Tooth removed | Usually none; sometimes a light surface polish | A thin layer of enamel, so it can't be undone |
| Appointments | One or two | Three, with a trial smile first |
| Lifespan | Typically three to five years before a refresh | Often ten to fifteen years, sometimes longer |
| Stain | Dulls slowly; polishing brings it back | Very resistant |
| Chips | Normally patched in a short visit | Normally replaced |
| Fee | £395 a tooth; £1,550 for four with whitening | From £695 a tooth |

Living with Bonding
Composite takes up stain more readily than porcelain. Coffee, tea, red wine, curry spices and smoking all speed that up, and a rinse with water afterwards helps. Try not to bite pens, nails or ice with bonded edges.
If a corner does chip, send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll find you an appointment to repair it.
