A standard visit is 30 minutes. If there's a lot of build-up, or it's been a few years, we book a 60-minute deep clean instead.
Checking the Gums
Simra measures the gum around your teeth and notes any bleeding or pockets, so changes show up early.
Removing Tartar
Hardened deposits come off above the gum and just beneath it, using an ultrasonic scaler and fine hand instruments.
Airflow Polish
Warm water, air and fine powder clear plaque and staining from tea, coffee, red wine and smoking.
What to Do at Home
Brush sizes fitted to your gaps, and the two or three areas you're missing, shown in your own mouth.
Why We Polish with Airflow
Airflow does away with the old gritty polishing paste. It clears staining in minutes, reaches the awkward spots round implants, bridges, braces and crowded teeth, and is gentler on gums that are already sore.
Every hygiene visit on our dental plans includes it. If you pay per visit, it's £100 for 30 minutes, or an add-on at £30.
If You Have Gum Disease
Where the disease has reached the bone, a normal clean isn't enough. Simra treats it below the gum in planned stages.
Are You Due a Visit?
Early gum disease doesn't hurt, so waiting for pain isn't a good guide. Book in if any of these sound familiar.
Pink When You Spit
Blood after brushing or flossing is the earliest and commonest sign of inflamed gums.
Breath That Comes Back
If it returns soon after brushing, plaque beneath the gum is the usual source.
A Rough Line at the Gums
Tartar you can feel with your tongue, often behind the lower front teeth. No brush will shift it.
Teeth Looking Longer
Gums drawing back, sometimes with a twinge from cold drinks at the gum line.
Implants, Bridges or a Brace
They trap plaque in places that are hard to reach, and the gum around them needs closer care.
Expecting a Baby
Pregnancy hormones make gums swell and bleed more easily, so an extra visit can help.
Between Visits
Gums and the Rest of Your Health
Gum disease and diabetes feed each other: sore, inflamed gums push blood sugar up, and poorly controlled diabetes makes gums worse. Looking after one helps the other.
Let us know if you're pregnant, have diabetes or take medicines that cause dry mouth or swollen gums. We'll suggest how often you should come, rather than a one-size-fits-all six months.
Hygiene Fees
On a dental plan, from £24.10 a month, your routine hygiene visits with Airflow are already paid for. Fees checked October 2026. 1
