Smile Makeover Costs
Dr Nikhil Sharma breaks a makeover into its parts, prices some common plans and explains where the money goes.
How Much Does a Smile Makeover Cost in Hamilton?
There's no single price, because a smile makeover is a mix of treatments and you pay for the ones in your plan. At Hamilton Smile Studios, whitening plus composite bonding on six teeth is £2,350, Invisalign Lite followed by that bonding comes to £5,850, and straightening followed by eight porcelain veneers starts at £8,060. You don't pay separately for the design or trial smile, and your total is fixed in writing before you start.
Why There Isn't One Price
A makeover is a plan, not a product. Someone with slightly crooked, yellowing teeth might need aligners, whitening and a little bonding. Someone else, with straight but worn and heavily filled front teeth, might need porcelain veneers and nothing more. Both are makeovers, and their costs can be thousands of pounds apart.
So the honest way to price one is to add up the parts. Dr Sharma plans the finished smile first, on photographs and a 3D scan of your teeth, then works backwards to the least treatment that gets you there. He carries out the cosmetic work himself, and where a missing tooth needs an implant, he plans and places that too, so one dentist owns the whole plan.

What Makes a Plan Cost More or Less
- The number of teeth. Bonding and veneers are charged a tooth, so whether you treat six or ten makes the biggest single difference. A wide smile shows more teeth.
- Composite or porcelain. Composite costs less now and keeps more of your tooth; porcelain costs more and lasts longer.
- Straightening first. Aligners add to the bill, but they often cut the number of veneers needed, or how much each tooth has to be shaped.
- Groundwork. Decay, gum disease or failing old crowns are treated first, at standard fees.
- Missing teeth. A gap is planned into the design from the start, usually with an implant.
- An uneven gum line. Where gum contouring is part of the design, it's itemised in your plan.
Doing It in the Right Order Saves Money
The sequence is nearly always the same: straighten, whiten, then add bonding or veneers. Teeth moved into line first need less material on them afterwards, sometimes none. Whitening comes next because composite and porcelain are colour-matched on the day they're made and won't lighten later. Whiten after bonding, and the bonding stays at the old shade while the teeth around it get lighter.
Getting the order wrong is how people end up paying twice: veneers fitted over crowded teeth that then need replacing after orthodontics, or bonding matched to unwhitened teeth that has to be redone. A single design and a single written sequence avoid that. Our guide to whitening before bonding explains the colour side.
Seeing It Before You Spend
Allow about ninety minutes for the design appointment. We take photos and video, scan your teeth with the iTero Lumina, and design the new smile over images of your own face. You then wear a trial version over your teeth, made in a temporary material with no drilling, so you can look, talk and photograph it. If it looks too long, too white or too regimented, we change the design rather than your teeth.
You go home with a written plan showing the order, the timescale and a fixed fee. The consultation is free, booked with a £40 deposit that's refunded within seven days of attending. If you need to cancel or rearrange, let us know at least 48 hours ahead. The deposit is only kept if you miss the appointment without telling us. More on what the mock-up can and can't show is in the trial smile guide.
How Long a Makeover Takes
Whitening and bonding can be finished in a few weeks: two to three weeks of home whitening, a short wait for the colour to settle, then one long bonding appointment. Porcelain veneers add three to four weeks from design to fitting. Plans that start with Invisalign usually run for several months before the cosmetic stage begins, and an implant needs healing time before its crown goes on. Your written plan lays out the timetable at the start, so you can work round a wedding or a holiday.

This guide is general information, not a diagnosis. A dentist needs to examine you to say what is right for your teeth.
